Brief Biography

Lisa Lickel and her husband live in a hundred and fifty-year-old Great Lakes ship captain's house in rural eastern Wisconsin, although they also enjoy a farm property in western Wisconsin. They have two grown sons and daughters-in-law. Lisa graduated with a bachelors of science degree in history from UW - Stevens Point, and belongs to several local historical societies.

Lisa began writing professionally while taking the Jerry Jenkins' Christian Writers' Guild Apprentice Course in 2002-2003. She made the top ten finalists of the first Operation: First Novel contest. Although she has sold numerous articles, devotionals, radio theater plays and some short stories, writing novels is where she feels most comfortable. She signed with Barbour Publishing in 2007 to write a cozy mystery for the Heartsong Presents: Mysteries book club, which unfortunately folded. Her book, The Gold Standard, came out in February 2009. She also signed in 2007 with an independent publisher to release her inspirational novel, Healing Grace, which debuted in June 2009. In the fall of 2009 she signed with another independent publisher to put out her third novel, Meander Scar in February of 2010.

Her radio plays can be heard on podcast from FreeQuincy Radio Theater. Her work has appeared in Writer's Digest, You Can Write For Children, the WRWA Journal, Afictionado, Christian Fiction Online, and Harpstring Magazine. She is a frequent book reviewer, interviewer, and guest at bookclubs. She is available for mentoring sessions with your writing group.

Lisa Lickel is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers Association and Wisconsin Regional Writers Association.
